This rare ceramic soy sauce bottle dates from approximately 1890 to 1940. A descendant of the early 19th-century “CPD” soy sauce bottles, it was produced as a novelty export piece, likely intended for the European market.

While the exact brewery and production date remain unknown, the right-to-left reading of the Japanese characters confirms it as a pre-World War II item. The inscription reads “Trademark Nippon Shoyu,” with the name “Fuji” featured prominently in the crest at the center.
