This exquisite canton serving plate features a timeless and elegant blue and white floral design. Love the irregular shape. This type of blue and white porcelain was one of the highly classic porcelains in Chinese history. The patterns are hand painted with the blue pigment derived from cobalt oxide. This plate was made in the 19th century for export to the Western markets. These were made in the Chinese city of Guangzhou, formerly known as Canton, this type of ceramics namesake.

remarkable pre-owned condition, the only imperfection is a small scratch on the left of the plate as pictured.
